Alaknanda Hydroelectric Project

Alaknanda Hydroelectric Project is erected in the Gaurshali Village of Srinagar district in Uttarakhand, India. The power project is commissioned in 2015 with a total installed capacity of 330 MW. The type of power project is Major (> 25 MW) and the type of plant is having a Dam with run of river generation. The Dam, where the hydroelectric project is erected is Alaknanda Dam and the type of Dam is Concrete built Gravity Dam. The type of powerhouse is surface built. The hydroelectric status of power project is functional and is working. The source of water for the generation of power is Alaknanda River and the hydroelectric basin of power plant is also Alaknanda River. The construction of power plant is finished and started its operations in 2015. There are four turbines in the plant and capacity per turbine is 82.5 MW. The Type of Turbine used in the power house is Francis. The manufacturer of both Turbine and Generator of the power plant is by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited of India. The unit size of plant is 30 MW having four units of 82.5 MW each. There are four units in the plant and all the four units are commissioned.
