Amarkantak Coal Power Station India
The Amarkantak Coal Power Station is situated approximately 10 km from Amlai Railway station situated on Bilaspur Katni section of S.E. RLY., Shahdal, Anuppur district, Madhya Pradesh. The total installed capacity of the power plant is 450 MWe.
This is a fully operating power plant and the power from the plant is mainly used as base load. This is a sub-critical thermal type power plant and the electric power from the plant is connected to the regional grid. Here coal is used as the primary fuel and fuel oil is used as the secondary fuel. The main source of coal for the plant is from South Eastern Coal Field Limited and the main source of cooled water is from a dam, which is constructed on Sutna Nala associate of Sone River, the pond has an overall capacity of 700 acre. Mercury Control Device is not used in this plant. The plant has three different units. The first two units has an installed capacity of 120 MWe and the third unit has an installed capacity of 210 MWe. The first unit is commissioned on 23-November-1977 and the second unit is commissioned on 16-May-1978. AVB Durgapur is the boiler manufacturer of the plant. The turbine and generator manufacturer of the plant is BHEL Bhopal. The third unit is commissioned on 15-June-2008. This is a state government ownership power plant. The owner and the operating company of the power plant is Madhya Pradesh SEB (MPGENCO).
