Auraiya Gas Power Plant is situated at Dibiyapur town in Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh, India. The power plant is one among the gas based power plants of National Thermal Power Corporation. The source of natural gas for the power plant is from GAIL HBJ Pipeline - South Basin Gas field. Whereas the Source of water for cooling the Auraiya power plant is Auraiya - Etawah Canal.
In December 2010, Unitech Machines signed a MoU with the power corporation of Uttar Pradesh State Government to build a power station at Auraiya. Later on, the power plant came under the control of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). The project has an approved capacity of 652 Megawatt and also the installed capacity of 652 Megawatt. The beneficiary states of Auraiya Gas Power Plant were Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Uttranchal.
The Unit Sizes of this gas power station is 4 X 110 MW Gas Turbines and 2 X 106 MW Steam Turbines. The Auraiya gas power plant currently has six generating units. The first unit (Gas Turbine) was commissioned in March 1989 with an installed capacity of 110 Megawatt. The second unit (Gas Turbine) was commissioned in July 1989 with an installed capacity of 110 Megawatt. The third unit (Gas Turbine) was commissioned in August 1989 with an installed capacity of 110 Megawatt. The forth unit (Gas Turbine) was commissioned in September 1989 with an installed capacity of 110 Megawatt. The fifth unit (Steam Turbine) was commissioned in December 1989 with an installed capacity of 106 Megawatt. The sixth unit was commissioned in June 1990 with an installed capacity of 106 Megawatt (Steam Turbine). IBJ and World Bank provides the international assistance to the Auraiya Gas Power Plant.
