Pragati III (Bawana) Power Plant is located at Bawana, a place located in North West Delhi, India. The overall capacity of the plant is 1500 MWe.

This is a combined cycle gas turbine type power plant and is used as base load/Intermediate load. This is a fully operating type power plant. Here natural gas and fuel oil are used as the primary and secondary fuels. Treated water from adjacent Rithala sewage treatment plant is the main source of water and GAIL (LNG from Petronet LNG Dahej terminal in Gujarat) is the main source of fuel for this plant. Adjacent Bawana Sub-Station is the most associated substation of this plant. The fuel is transported to the power plant through HBJ Pipeline.

This power plant has 6 different units. The first unit is commissioned on 24-October-2010 with a total installed capacity of 250 MWe. 14- February- 2011 and 03-october-2011 are the commissioned dates for second and third units. 05-July-2012 and 07-May-2013 are the commissioned dates for the fourth and fifth units respectively. All the units has a total installed capacity of 250 MWe. The last unit (sixth unit) is commissioned on 06-february-2014. GE/BHEL is the turbine and generator manufacturers of this plant. The different turbine model types used in this plant are: GT-1 PG9351FA (unit 1), GT-2 PG9351FA (unit 2), ST-1 (unit 3), GT-3 PG9351FA (unit 4), GT-4 PG9351FA (unit 5) and ST-2 (unit 6). This is a IPGCL-PPCL owned type power plant and BHEL is the Construction/EPC Contractor.
