Bhandardara Hydroelectric Project
Bhandardara Hydroelectric Project is erected at the Pravara River of Ahmednagar district in the state of Maharashtra. The first unit of hydroelectric project is commissioned in 1986 with an installed capacity of 12 MW and the second unit was commissioned in 1996 with an installed capacity of 34 MW. The type of project is Major due to its capacity is greater than 25 MW. The status of the power plant is Operational. The water source for the generation of power is Pravara River. The power house is located in the Western Hydroelectric Region of India.
The power plant is owned by the Water Resources Department (WRD GOM) of Government of Maharashtra. The operations of the power project is controlled by the Dodson – Lindblom Hydro Power Private Limited (DLHPPL). The beneficiary states of the power project are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Telangana and Chhattisgarh. The Bhandardara Hydroelectric Project is completed and started its operation in 1986. The total number of turbines in the plant is two. The first turbine has a capacity of 12 MW and the second turbine has a capacity of 34 MW. The type of two turbines are Francis and Kaplan. The maker of both Turbine and Generator of power project is Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited of Bhopal in India.
The unit size of power project is 46 Megawatts including two units. The first unit has a capacity of 12 MW and second unit has a capacity of 34 MW. Therefore the total installed units are two and both of them are commissioned.
