Bhavani Kattalai I Hydroelectric Project

Bhavani Kattalai I Hydroelectric Project is erected in the Cauvery River in Uratchikottai town of Erode district in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The power project was commissioned in 2006 with an approved and installed capacity of 30 MW. The type of project is major as its capacity is 30 MW which is more than 25 MW. The Type of Plant is Water discharged from another project and that project is Lower Mettur Barrage IV Project. The basin, where the plant is located is Cauvery. The status of the plant is completed and is functional. The power project is situated in the Southern Hydroelectric Region of India. There is only one surface powerhouse in the Hydroelectric Project. The source of water in the process of generation of power in the plant is Cauvery River.

The power project is owned by the State Government of Tamil Nadu. The operator of the power plant is Tamil Nadu State Electricity Board in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO). The beneficiary States of the power plant are Tamil Nadu and its neighboring states. The power project is completed in 2006 and soon it started its operation. There are two turbines in the plant and capacity for each Turbine is 15 MW. The Unit Size of the plant is 30 MW having two units of 15 MW. There are two units in the plant. The first unit is commissioned in 2006 and the second unit is also commissioned in 2006.
