Bithnok Thermal Power Project
Bithnok Thermal Power Project is a proposed project and is expected to be commissioned during the year 2020. The Approved capacity of the thermal power is 250 Megawatt. The Installed capacity of the thermal plant is also 250 Megawatt. The status of the power plant is Pre-permit development. The source of coal for the generation of power is Bithnok Lignite mine. The source of water is from IGNP Canal. The primary fuel used is Coal and the type of Coal used is Lignite. Bithnok Thermal power project is owned and operated by the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC). The plant is using the Sub critical Technology.
The Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract was given to Reliance Power. The beneficiary states of the thermal power plant are Rajasthan and its neighbouring states. The Unit size of the thermal power plant is 250 Megawatt (250 MW x 1 unit). There are one unit in Operation and that unit is expected to be commissioned by 2020. The estimated cost of the thermal power plant is estimated to be 2710 crores.
Earlier Power Purchase Agreement was signed with Rajasthan Distribution Company India (DISCOMs). Also an agreement for the supply of water from IGNP Canal is signed. Also for the construction of power plant, acquisition of private land in Bithnok from the land – owners are done with the order from Rajasthan Government. The construction of the power plant is started with the implementation of EPC Contract and it is expected that the commissioning of power plant is to be conducted in the year 2020. Also the coal ministry of india has allowed the permission of revised mining plan in June 2015. The contract availed for all main packages and the work commenced. And the project is now in hold due to clearance from Government of Rajasthan due to tarrif issue. After its resume, the project will continue its construction.

Bithnok Thermal Power Project is located in the Bithnok village of Bikaner district in the state of Rajasthan, India. You can reach this thermal Power Station via Road, Rail or Air. By Road, it is easy to reach the power station from Bikaner. Bithnok is located at about 73 kilometer via NH11 from Bikaner. Also the nearest well-connected railway station is Bikaner Railway Station. Bikaner Nal Airport is the nearest domestic airport. From Bikaner, you would get transport buses or Taxi Services to the Bithnok Thermal Power Station.
