Butibori Power Project is a coal fired thermal power plant situated at Butibori in Nagpur district of Maharashtra. The power plant is run and maintained by the Reliance Power.The EPC contract is given to Reliance Infrastructure. The Shanghai Electric Corporation of China is contributing the boiler, turbine and generator for the power plant.

The Butibori plant consist of two 300 Megawatt units of coal fired powerclose to Nagpur in the state of Maharashtra. The plant is deliveringwholeelectricity to Mumbai citizensover Reliance's distribution company in Mumbai. This Thermal Power Plant is a product of Vidarbha Industries Power Limited, which is a part of Reliance Power. Reliance is supplying 51 percent of power from the first unit (total 300 Megawatt) of thermal power plant to the industrial consumers. The rest of the power is sold based on contract.

Butibori Thermal Power Plant is commissioned in 2012 August. The Approved Capacity of this thermal power plant is 600 Megawatt. The installed Capacity of this thermal power plant is 600 Megawatt. The status of this thermal power plant is operational. The source of coal for the production of power is Western Coalfields Limited (WCL). This coal is transported to butibori power station by Indian Railways. The source of water is from Vadgaon Dam on the vena river, which is located in the Nagpur District. The primary fuel used is coal. The type of this thermal power plant is Subcritical. The power station is owned and operated by Reliance Power.

The beneficiary states of this thermal power plant are Maharashtra and its neighbouring states. The Unit Size of this thermal power plant is 2 units x 300 Megawatts. There are two units in operation. The first unit is commissioned in 2012 August with an installed capacity of 300 Megawatt. After that the second unit is commissioned in 2013 December with an installed capacity of 300 Megawatt. The third unit with 300 Megawatt began operations in October 21, described as Phase 3, but it is cancelled due to not getting the Environmental Clearance. The source of financing for this thermal power station is by the consortium of banks led by Axis Bank.

It is to note that MIDC is the largest industrial zone of Asia. You can arrive at this thermal power station via Bus, Train or Flight. Transport Buses and Taxi Services are available throughout the day from the nearest cities or towns to Butibori Thermal Power Station. Butibori is around 27 kilometers away from Nagpur City. Butibori Railway Station is the nearest railway station. This railway station is well connected with Nagpur Railway Station, where you get trains to go to any part of the country. Nagpur Airport is the nearest airport, which is around 21 kilometers away from Butibori Power Plant.
