Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited

Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL Chhattisgarh) is the power producing corporation of the State Government of Chhattisgarh, India.
Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board was formed as per the Electricity Supply Act of 1948 that was issued in the gazette of the Chhattisgarh Government. Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board (CSEB) became operational from 01 December 2000 onwards. CSEB has been modernised into five companies in accord with the requirements confined in the Electricity Act of 2003 by the Chhattisgarh Government. Thus the CSPGCL Chhattisgarh Limited became operational from 01 January 2009 onwards. The five companies formed in accordance with the Act are as follows.
- Chhattisgarh State Power Holding Co Ltd (CSPHCL)
- Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Co Ltd (CSPGCL)
- Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Co Ltd (CSPTCL)
- Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Co Ltd (CSPDCL)
- Chhattisgarh State Power Trading Co Ltd
Thermal Power Plants
- Dr.Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Thermal Power Station, a 500 Megawatt (2 units x 250 Megawatt) coal fired thermal power plant located at the Korba East of Korba district in the state of Chhattisgarh of India. The power plant is commissioned in 2017 March 30.
- Hasdeo Thermal Power Station, an 840 MW (4 units x 210 Megawatt) coal fired thermal power plant located at Korba city of Chhattisgarh. An addition of 500 MW (2x250 MW) is proposed and ongoing at the site, this unit of power station is called as Korba West Extension Thermal Power Plant. The power plant is commissioned in 1983.
Proposed coal-fired thermal power stations
- Korba South Thermal Power Project, a 1000MW (2 units x 500 Megawatt) plant is erected in Korba district. The Unit 1 is commissioned in June 2014 and Unit 2 is commissioned in October 2014.
- Bunji Bundeli Thermal Power Project, a 500MW (2 units x 250 Megawatt) plant is erected in Korba district.
- Bhaiyathan Thermal Power Project, a 1320MW (2 units x 660 Megawatt) plant is erected in Sarguja district. This is a proposed joint venture between Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited and IndiaBulls. The power plant is commissioned in 2012 – 2013.
- IFFCO-CSPGCL TPP, a 1320 Megawatt (2 units x 660 Megawatt) plant is erected in Premnagar, Sarguja district. This is a proposed joint venture between Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) and Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO). The power plant is commissioned in 2013.
Proposed hydroelectric power stations
CSPGCL is also proposing the erection of three hydroelectric power stations with a joined installed capacity of 706 Megawatt. They are
- Bodhghat Hydroelectric Power Plant, a 500 Megawatt (4 units x 125 Megawatt) is erected at Dantewara district. The power plant is commissioned in 2017.
- Matnar Hydroelectric Power Plant, a 60 Megawatt (3 units x 20 Megawatt) is erected at Baster district. The power plant is commissioned in 2016.
- Kanhar Hydroelectric Power Plant, a 50 Megawatt (2 units x 25 Megawatt) is erected at Sarguja district. The power plant units are commissioned in 2016.
- Rehar Hydroelectric Power Plant, a 96 Megawatt (3 units x 32 Megawatt) is erected at Sarguja district. The power plant units are also commissioned in 2016.
