National Capital Power Station (NCPS) or Dadri Gas Power Station, is the power project to meet the power requirement of National Capital Region (NCR). It has a gas-fuelled plant and has a small settlement located in UP for its workers. It is positioned at Vidyut Nagar of Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh which is around 25 kilometers away from Ghaziabad and around nine kilometers from Dadri. It is almost 50 kilometers away from New Delhi in the way of Hapur. Dadri Gas Power Station is today a part of National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, So it became a public sector now. It is around 20 kilometres away from Ghaziabad.

The Project, Dadri Gas Power Plant has an approved capacity of 817 Megawatt and an installed capacity of 817 Megawatt. It was first commissioned in May 1992. The gas source for the plant is utilized from HBJ Pipe line/ 3 MMSCMD (APM Gas) from Alternate Fuel – HSD. The water source for the plant is Upper Ganga Canal. The primary fuel used for the generation of power is Natural Gas. The Beneficiary States from Dadri Gas Power Station were Haryana, HP, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP and Uttarakhand. Also the beneficiary Union Territories from this plant were Chandigarh and Delhi. The Unit Sizes were 4 Gas Turbine X 130.19 Megawatt + 2 Steam Turbine X 154.51 Megawatt. There are six Units in Operation for this power station. Four of them are utilizing Gas Turbine, while the remaining two are utilizing Steam Turbine. KfW provides the international assistance to Dadri Gas Power Plant.

How to Reach: The nearest airport is Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, which is about 44 km away from Dadri. The nearest railway station is Dadri Railway Station and the transport bus services are available throughout the day towards Delhi and other neighbouring cities.
