Dahanu Thermal Power Station India

The Dahanu Thermal Power Station is located at Dahanu, Thane District, Maharashtra, India. The total installed capacity of Dhanu coal power station is 500 MWe.

This is a fully operating power plant and the power from the plant is mainly used as base load in Thane District. Here coal is used as the primary fuel and fuel oil is used as the secondary fuel. This is a Sub critical thermal type plant and mercury control device is not used here. The plant has Electrostatic precipitators (ESP) with an efficiency of 99.9% to avoid environmental issues. The plant has two different units and both the two units have an installed capacity of 250 MWe each. The first unit is commissioned on 06-January-1995 and the second unit is commissioned on 29-March-1995.

The turbine, generator and boiler manufacturers for both the two units are BHEL Hardwar. The chimney height for both the two units is 275.3 meters. This is an IPP ownership type power plant and Reliance Energy Limited is the owner of the power plant by owing all the 100% share of the plant. BSES Ltd. is the operating company of the plant. The plant got the first power utility to get both ISO 9000, ISO 14001 and OHSAS-18001 certificate in India.
