Dhauliganga Hydroelectric Project is erected in the Dhauliganga River in the Pithoragarh District of Uttarakhand. The power project is commissioned in 2005 having a total installed capacity of 280 MW. The type of project is Major as it has more capacity than 25 MW. The type of Dam is embankment with Rockfill, that is, concrete faced rock fill dam. The configuration of powerhouse is Underground Powerhouse having 4 units of 70 MW power generations. The hydroelectric status of power project is running. The Source of water for the generation of power in the plant is Dhauliganga river, which is near confluence with Kali River. The power project is implemented in the northern hydroelectric region of the country.

The owner of the Dhauliganga hydroelectric project is Central Government and the operator is National Hydro Power Corporation. The beneficiary states of the power plant are Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The construction of the power plant is completed in 2005. It was inaugurated and started its operations in 2005 itself. The total number of turbines in the plant is four and each turbine has a capacity of 70 MW. The maker of the turbine of the plant is Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and the maker of generator is also BHEL. The unit size of the plant is 280 MW having 4 units of 70 MW. There are four units in operation and all the four units are commissioned.
