Durgapur Steel Thermal Power Station India

The Durgapur Steel Works CPP Coal Power Station is located at DSP Complex Burdwan, CPP-II, Durgapur, Paschim Bardhaman District, West Bengal. The total installed capacity of Durgapur Steel Works CPP Coal Power Station is 120 MWe.

This is a fully operating power plant and the power from the plant is mainly used as base load in Paschim Bardhaman District. Here coal and fuel oil are used as the primary and secondary fuels. This is a Sub critical thermal type plant and the Plant is in the process of overhaul. The electric power grid from the plant is mainly connected to capacitive and grid connected. Mercury control devices is not used in this plant.

The plant has two different units and both the two units has an installed capacity of 60 MWe. The first unit is commissioned on May-2012 and the second unit is commissioned on March - 2013. This is a government joint venture type power plant. The owners of the power plant are Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) holding 50% share of the plant and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) by holding the next 50% share of the plant. NTPC-SAIL Power Company Private Limited (NSPCL) is the operating company of the plant. In March 2001, the 50:50 joint venture between SAIL and the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is formed.
