Essar Salaya Power Plant India

The Essar Salaya Coal Power Plant is located at Salaya, Jamnagar District, Gujarat, India. The total installed capacity of Essar Salaya Coal Power Plant is 1200 MWe.

This is a fully operating power plan and the power from the plant is mainly used as base load in Jamnagar district. This is a sub critical thermal type power plant and coal is used as the primary fuel. The fuel (coal) needed for the plant is mainly imported from Indonesia and the electric power grid from the plant is mainly connected to the regional grid. The water need for the plant is mainly taken from Seawater with Adjacent reservoir and the capital cost of the plant in the year 2012 is Rs. 557 Crores.

The plant has two different units and both the two units has an installed capacity of 600 MWe each. The first unit is commissioned on 23- April-2012 and the second unit is commissioned on 13-June-2012. Harbin Electric is the turbine, generator and boiler manufacturer and steam turbine is used in both the two units. Essar Power Gujarat Limited is the owner and the operating company of the power plant and this is a private ownership type power plant. Tata, Central Southern China Electric Power Design Inst, Harbin Electric International are the construction contractors of the plant.
