Facts about Major Agencies of the United Nations

International Labor Organization (ILO)
- ILO, which formed in 1919, became the first agency of United Nations Assembly in 1946.
- Geneva is the head quarters of ILO.
- ILO got the Nobel Peace Prize in 1969.
Food – Agriculture Organization (FAO)
- Nutrition Quality, Living Quality, Production of Agricultural Products, Distribution etc. should be improved. The living quality of village population should be improved were the main aims of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization).
- Rome is the head quarters of this Organization.
United Nations Educational Scientific Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
- The main aim of UNESCO is Education among nations, more justice for the equivalence of scientific – culture sectors internationally, Human Rights, Freedom etc… would be confirmed.
- The headquarters of UNESCO, which is formed in 1946 is located at Paris.
- In 1984, America resigned from UNESCO. But America again joined and became a member of UNESCO in 1997.
World Health Organization (WHO)
