The Faridabad Extension Coal Power Station can be located at Sector 71, Village, Mujeri, P.O, Neemka, Faridabad, Haryana. The total installed capacity of the power plant is 110 MWe.
This is a partially operating power plant and the plant is mainly served as the base load in Faridabad. The plant has low efficiency and high environmental impact and is a Sub critical thermal type power plant. Coal and fuel oil are used as the primary and secondary fuels. Here mercury control device is not used and the electric power grid is mainly connected to the regional grid.
The plant has initially 3 units and now only two units are in operational state. The first unit is commissioned on 22-November-1974 and the second unit is commissioned on 01-April-1981. Both the two units has an installed capacity of 55 MWe each. Initially the two units has an installed capacity of 60 MWe each and on 11-January-1990, the units are de-rated to 55 MWe. The second unit of the plant, which is not in operational state was commissioned on 06-March- 1976, but stops its production on 08-September-2008.
The boiler, turbine and generator manufacturer of the plant is BHEL Hyderabad. Czech design and Combustion Engineering design are the boiler models used in two units respectively. The turbine model used in both the two units is twin cylinder type impulse turbines based on Skoda Czech design.
