Ganvi Hydroelectric Project

Ganvi Hydro Power Station is located in the Shimla district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It has an approved and installed capacity of 22.5 MW. The type of project is small, since the installed capacity is between 3 MW and 25 MW. The status of the project is Operational. The source of water for the generation of power from this hydroelectric power plant is from Sutlaj River. The basin is Indus River and the hydroelectric region is North hydroelectric region.

The power project is owned and operated by the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB). The beneficiary states of the hydroelectric power plant are Himachal Pradesh and other North Indian States. The power project was completed in 2000 and it starts its operation from 2000 onwards. There are two turbines in the plant and the capacity per Turbine is 11.25 MW. So the total installed capacity of the power plant is 22.5 MW.

The type of Turbine used is Pelton and the turbine is manufactured by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. Whereas the generator of the power plant is also manufactured by BHEL. The unit sizes of the power plant is 22.5 Megawatt (2 units x 11.25 MW). There are two units in Operation having an installed capacity of 11.25 MW each. All the two units are commissioned.

How to Reach: The Power plant is located at the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. You can arrive this power station from Shimla. Shimla is the nearest well-connected city from Power Station, in which it is located at about 160 Kilometer away via NH5. Bus Services and Taxi cars are available from the Shimla city to the power station. Shimla Railway Station is the nearest well-connected railway station and Shimla Airport is the nearest airport.
