Giral Lignite Power Plant
Giral Lignite Power Plant (GLPL) is working under the Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, otherwise called as RRVUNL. RRVUNL is a state governmentpossessedorganisationfunctioning in the field of power generation.
The thermal power station has an entire capacity of 250 Megawatt. Two equal units of 125 Megawatteach, are erected by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on Engineering, Procurement and Construction basis. It is a pit head plant. The fuel used is lignite coal, which is acquired from the domestic coal mines just behind the plant. The fuel is transported by Rajasthan State Mines & Minerals Limited. An addition to fuel is granite, which is further incrushed form to the lignite. Limestone is also delivered by RSMML. Lignite cost is almost Rs 400 per MT. This is the first plant of the nation which is consuming Lime with lignite to switch SOX level. It was established in 2 stages.
Giral Lignite Power Plant is commissioned in February 2007. The approved capacity of this thermal power plant is 250 Megawatt. The installed capacity of this thermal power plant is also 250 Megawatt. The status of the Giral Lignite Power Plant is also operational. The primary fuel used is Lignite Coal. The source of Coal for the generation of power is Domestic Coal. The Tertiary Fuel used is Heavy Furnace Oil (HFO) and Light Diesel Oil (LDO). The type of coal used is Lignite. The manufacturer of Boiler is Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. Also the Manufacturer of Turbine and Generator is Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. The owner of the thermal power plant is Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited. The beneficiary states of this thermal power plant are Rajasthan and its neighbouring states.
The Unit Sizes of this thermal power plant are 250 Megawatt (2 units x 125 Megawatt). In Stage 1, the first unit is commissioned and it was in February 2007 with an installed capacity of 125 Megawatt. Similarly in second stage, the second unit was commissioned and it was in December 2008, with an installed capacity of 125 Megawatt.
