Gumti Hydroelectric Power Project

Gumti Hydroelectric Power Project is erected near tirthamukh in the South Tripura District of Tripura. The power project is commissioned in 1976 with an approved and installed capacity of 15 MW. The basin of the power plant is Gumti River. The type of project is small, since its capacity is less than 25 MW and the type of power plant is Dam on river having reservoir. The hydroelectric project status is operational. The power project is erected in the Eastern Hydroelectric Region of the country. The water source for the power project is from Gumti River.

The power plant is owned by Tripura State Government and the operator of the power plant is Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited. The Beneficiary States of the power plant are Tripura and its neighboring states. The construction of power plant is completed in 1984 and soon it started its operations. The type of Powerhouses is surface powerhouse. The type of power plant used in the power house is Vertical Shaft Francis. The manufacturer of both Turbine and Generator of the power plant is by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited of India. There are three turbines in the plant and capacity for each turbine is 5 MW. The total installed capacity of the plant is 15 MW having three units. All of the three units are commissioned.
