Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant
Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant (GHTP Lehra Mohabbat) is situated in Lehra Mohabbat village on NH 7 which is on the way from Bathinda to Chandigarh. The Turbines and Generators are manufactured by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited in India. The Generators used are cylindrical rotor type.
Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant is commissioned in 29 December 1997. The Approved Capacity of the thermal power plant is 920 Megawatt. The installed capacity of thermal power plant is also 920 Megawatt. The status of the thermal power plant is Operational. The source of water for the cooling of power plant is from Bhatinda branch of Sirhind Canal. The primary fuel used is Coal. The Manufacturer of Boiler, Turbine and Generator is Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). The power plant is owned and operated by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited. The beneficiary states of this thermal power plant are Punjab and its neighbouring states.
The Unit sizes of this thermal power plant are 920 Megawatt (210 MW x 2 units + 250 MW x 2 units). There are four units in operation. They are Unit 1, Unit 2, Unit 3 and Unit 4. In Stage 1, there are two units, first and second units. The first unit is commissioned in 29 December, 1997 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. The second unit is commissioned in 16 October, 1998 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. In Stage 2, third and fourth units are commissioned. The third unit is commissioned in 5 February, 2008 with an installed capacity of 250 Megawatt. After that fourth unit is commissioned in 16 October 1998 with an installed capacity of 250 Megawatt.
