Haldia Energy Power Station
Haldia Energy Limited, a subdivision of Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation, is a power generation company with two coal fuelled thermal power stations, Dhariwal power station and Haldia Energy Power Station. Dhariwal power station is erected at Tadali in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra and the Haldia Energy power station is erected at Baneswar Chak closer to Haldia. Both power units has an installed capacity of 600 megawatt each with plants comprising two 300MW units.
Haldia Energy power station is commissioned in January 2015. It has an approved capacity of 600 Megawatt and the installed capacity is about 600 Megawatt. The status of the power plant for first stage are Operational and the second stage is under approval. The source of coal for the generation of power is from Mahanadi Coalfields Limited. The source of water is from Hooghly River. The primary fuel used in the power plant is coal. The plant is using the technology of Sub Critical for Stage 1 and the technology of Super Critical for Stage 2.
The requirement of land for the construction of power plant is around 375.78 acres. The owner and operator of the thermal power plant are Haldia Energy limited, which is a subsidiary of CESC. The beneficiary states of the thermal power plant are West Bengal and its neighbouring states. The Unit Sizes of the thermal power plant are 600 Megawatt (300 Megawatt x 2 units). There are two units in operation and they are first and second units. The first unit is commissioned in January 2015 with an installed capacity of 300 Megawatt. Similarly, the second unit is commissioned in February 2015 with an installed capacity of 300 Megawatt.
