This is a fully operating power plant and the power from the plant is mainly used as base load in Singrauli District, Madhya Pradesh. This is a super critical thermal type power plant and coal is used as the primary fuel. The electric power grid from the plant is connected to the national grid and the main source of coal for the plant is through two captive coal blocks, the Amelia (North) and Dongri Tal – II with 250 MT. The main mine for the plant is Amelia (North) and Dongri Tal – II and the main cooling system is mainly from cooling towers.

The plant has two different units and both the two units has an installed capacity of 660 MWe each. The first unit is commissioned on 29-August-2014 and the second unit is commissioned in the year 2015. The boiler, turbine and generator manufacturers of the plant is L&T-MHI, the boiler model used in the two units is Supercritical. This is a private ownership type power plant and Jaypee group is the owner of the plant. Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (JPVL) is the operating company of the power plant.
