Jhanor-Gandhar Thermal Power Station

Jhanor-Gandhar Gas CCGT Power Plant is located in Gujarat State. The plant is located in Bharuch district, which is located in the southern part of the Gujarat peninsula. This is on the west coast of state of Gujarat state. The overall installed capacity of Jhanor-Gandhar Thermal Power Station is 648 MWe.

The plant is mainly used as base load in Gujarat State and is a fully operating power plant. The geographical coordinate locations are: latitude - 21.8242 and longitude - 73.1136. Natural gas is used as the primary fuel for this plant. The water from River Narmada is the main source of water and fuel from Gandhar Gas field is the main source of fuel in this plant. The gas supply and linkage required for 90% PLF are 3.12 and 2.99 respectively. HBJ Pipeline is used for carrying fuel from Gandhar gas field to the plant. 2500 crores is the capital cost of the plant.

The plant has 4 different units and the first three units has an installed capacity of 131 MWe. The first unit is commissioned on 17-March-1994, the second is on 03-April-1994 and the third one is commissioned on 07-May-1994. The fourth unit is commissioned on 30-March-1995 with an installed capacity of 255 MWe. ABB, Germany is the turbine and generator manufacturer of this plant. The turbine models used here are: GT-1 GT13E1, GT-2 GT13E1 (for units 1 and 2 respectively) and GT-3 GT13E1, ST-1 (for units 3 and 4 respectively). This is a central government ownership type power plant and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is the owner of the plant. The operating company of the plant is also National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
