Jharsuguda Sterlite Power Station is a coal fired thermal power plant erected at the Burkhamunda village near to Jharsuguda town in the Jharsuguda district of Odisha. The power plant is functioned and owned by the Sterlite Energy. The power plant is a 2400 Megawatt (4×600 Megawatt) project.The Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement is given to SEPCO3 of China. The nameplate capacity of the thermal power plant is 2400 Megawatt.

Jharsuguda Sterlite Power Station is commissioned in 2010 August. The approved capacity of the thermal power plant is 2400 Megawatt and the installed capacity is 2400 Megawatt. The Status of the thermal power plant is operational for all the units from Unit 1 to Unit 4. The source of coal for the generation of power is from Ib Valley Coalfield. While the source of water is from Reservoir of Hirakud Dam. The primary fuel used is coal. The Jharsuguda Sterlite Power Station is owned and operated by the Sterlite Energy, which is a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources. The type of plant is Sub Critical. The beneficiary states of the thermal power plant are Odhisa and its neighbouring States.

The Unit Sizes of the thermal power plant are 2400 Megawatt (4 units x 600 Megawatt). There are four units in Operation and they are from first unit to fourth unit. The first unit is commissioned in November 2010 with an installed capacity of 600 Megawatt. Similarly, the second unit is commissioned in April 2011 with an installed capacity of 600 Megawatt. Likewise, the third unit is commissioned in 2011 with an installed capacity of 600 Megawatt. Finally the fourth unit is commissioned in 25 April 2012 with an installed capacity of 600 Megawatt.
