Jindal Steel and Power Plant Ltd Raigarh Chattisgarh

The Jindal Steel and Power Ltd Raigarh Coal Captive Power Plant is located at Tamnar village near Raigarh town in Raigarh district, Chattisgarh. The total installed capacity of the Jindal Steel and Power Ltd Raigarh Coal Captive Power plant is 3400 MWe.

This is a fully operating power plant and is mainly used as base load in Chattisgarh. The main source of coal (fuel) for the plant is from capacitive coal mine (Indigenous). Mercury control device is not used in this plant. Bharat Heavy Electricals are the construction contractor of the power plant. The plant has eight different units and al these eight units are in operational condition. The first four units has an installed capacity of 250 MWe each and the remaining last four units has an installed capacity of 600 MWe each. The first unit is commissioned on December 2007. The second, third and fourth units are commissioned in the year 2008. The fifth and sixth units are commissioned on March 2014 and April 2014 respectively. The seventh and eighth units are commissioned on January 2015 and April 2015 respectively. This is a CPP ownership type power plant. Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. is the owner of the power plant, which is a subsidiary of Jindal Steel and Power. This power plant provides power to Asia's largest and world's second largest coal based sponge iron plant.
