Kadamparai Hydroelectric Power Plant is erected in the Kadampari River near the Malayandipattinam town of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The power project is commissioned in 1987 with an approved and installed capacity of 400 MW. The Type of Project is Major as its capacity is greater than 25 MW. The type of plant is Pumped Storage Power Plant. The hydroelectric basin of the power project is West flowing rivers starting from Tadri to Kanyakumari. The status of the power plant is completed and is Operational. The hydroelectric project is erected in the Southern Hydroelectric Region of the country. The Set up of the Powerhouse is just like an Underground powerhouse having 4 x 100 reversible turbines. The source of water for the generation of electricity in the power plant is Kadampari river along with water from other streams.

The power plant is owned by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) under the control of State Government of Tamil Nadu. The operating company of the Power Project is Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO). The beneficiary states of the power plant are Tamil Nadu and its neighboring states including Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The power project is completed in 1987 and after that it started its working. The total number of turbines in the plant is four and Capacity per Turbine is 100 MW. The unit size of project is 400 MW having 4 units of 100 MW. There are four units in the power plant and all of them are commissioned.
