Kathalguri Gas Based Power Plant

Kathalguri (Assam) Gas CCGT Power Plant is located in Bokuloni Village, which is a place located in Dibrugarh District, Assam, India.

The overall capacity of Kathalguri (Assam) Gas CCGT Power Plant is 291 MWe. The plant is mainly used as base load and is a fully operating type power plant. This is a combined cycle gas turbine type power plant and natural gas is used as the primary fuel in this plant. The main source of water is from the river burhi dihing and the consumptive amount of water required is 1600 cubic meters per hour. The Configuration of Boiler/Turbine/Gen for this plant is 3 blocks of 2+2+1 CCGT. The Gas Supply (MMSCMD) required for 90% PLF is 1.4 and 1.32 is the linkage. Natural gas from the oil fields of Upper Assam is the main source of fuel for this plant. the plant has 9 units and the turbine and generator manufacturers are Mitsubishi Japan (for units 1 to 4) and BHEL (units 5 to 9).

The first 6 units has a total installed capacity of 33.5 MWe and the units 7 to 9 has a total installed capacity of 30 MWe. The first unit ois commissioned in the year 16-March-1995. The units 2,3 and 4 are also commissioned in the year 1995 and the units 5 and 6 are commissioned in the year 1996. The units 7 to 9 are commissioned in the year 1998. North East Electric Power Corporations (NEEPCO) is the operator of this plant. This is a Government of India ownered type plant.
