Kawas Thermal Power Station
Kawas Gas CCGT Power Plant is located in Gujarat State. The plant is located in Surat district in Gujarat. The overall installed capacity of Kawas Gas CCGT Power Plant is 645 MWe.
Kawas Thermal Power Station is mainly served as base load in Gujarat State and is a fully operating power plant. This is a combined cycle gas turbine type power plant and the linkage is 2.87. The gas supply needed for 90% PLF is 3.15. Here natural gas and HSD are used as primary fuels and naptha is used as secondary fuel. Here regional grid is the main connection for electric power grid. Fuel from south basin gas field is the main source of fuel and is transported through the HBJ Pipeline. The water from hazira branch canal singanpur weir is the main source of water. Rupees 1600 crores is the capital cost of the plant.
The plant has 6 different units. The first four units has an installed capacity of 106 MWe and the last two units (5 and 6) has an installed capacity of 110.5 MWe. The first four units are commissioned in the year 1992 and the last two units are commissioned in1993. GEC-Alstom is the turbine and generator manufacturer of this plant and CMI is the boiler manufacturer. The turbine models used in different units are: GT-1 9001E (unit 1), GT-2 9001E (unit 2), GT-3 9001E (unit 3), GT-4 9001E (unit 4), ST-1 and ST-2 (units 5 and 6 respectively). This is a central government ownership power plant and NTPC is the owner of the plant having the entire 100% share. Also NTPC is the operating company of the plant.
How to Reach: The Kawas Thermal Power Station is located in the Surat district of Gujarat in India. Surat Airport is the nearby airport and Kawas Railway Station is the nearby railway station.
