Kolaghat Thermal Power Station East Medinipur
Kolaghat Thermal Power Station is one among the chief thermal power station in the state of West Bengal. It is situated at Mecheda, which is around 67 kilometers away from Kolkata in the state of East Medinipur district. The Unit Sizes of the thermal power plant is 1260 Megawatt (210 Megawatt x 6 units). There are six units in operation in two Stages. In stage 1, first, second and third units are commissioned, whereas in stage 2, the fourth, fifth and sixth units are commissioned. The first unit is commissioned in September 1990 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. The second unit is commissioned in March 1986 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. The third unit is commissioned in October 1984 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. The fourth unit is commissioned in April 1995 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. The fifth unit is commissioned in May 1991 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. Finally the sixth unit is commissioned in January 1994 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt.
