Korba East Thermal Power Plant

The Korba East Thermal Power Station India can be located at 5 KM from Korba city on the Korba-Jamnipali road, Chhattisgarh, India. The total installed capacity of the power plant is 440 MWe.

This is a fully operating power plant and the plant is mainly served as the base load in Chhattisgarh state. This is a Sub-critical thermal type power plant and the electric power grid from the plant is connected to the regional grid. Here coal and fuel oil are used as the primary and secondary fuels respectively. The main source of water for the power plant is about 60.5 million cubic meters per year from Hasdeo Barrage and mercury control device is not used in this power plant. The plant has six different units. The first four units has an installed capacity of 50 MWe and the last two units has an installed capacity of 120 MWe each. The commissioned dates of these units are:

Unit 2 - 16/July/1967

Unit 3 - 28/August/1968

Unit 4 - 31/October/1968

Unit 5 - 24/March/1976

Unit 6 - 05/April/1981

The boiler manufacturers for the first four units are Taganrog. AVB Durgapur and BHEL are the boiler manufacturers for the fifth and sixth units. The turbine manufacturers are LMZ Russia (first four units) and BHEL (fifth and sixth units). The generator manufacturers for the plant are Electrosila (first four units) and BHEL India (units 5 and 6). This is a state government ownership type power plant and Chattisgarh SEB is the owner of the power plant by owing all the 100% share of the plant. Also Chattisgarh SEB is the operating company of the plant.
