Koteshwar Hydro Electric Project is erected in the Bhagirathi River at about 22 km downstream of Tehri Dam in Uttarakhand in India. The hydro electric project is commissioned in 2010. It has an approved and total installed capacity of 400 MW. The type of project is Major as its total capacity is greater than 25 MW. The type of plant is Dam with run of river generation. The project utilizes the water released from Tehri Reservoir. The structure type of plant is Dam. The pattern of power house is Surface Powerhouse at the toe of the dam (right bank). The status of power project is Operational. The source of water for the generation of power is Bhagirathi River. The hydroelectric region of the power project is North India.

The Koteshwar Hydro Electric Project is a Joint Venture of State Government and Indian Government and the operator of the plant is Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC). The beneficiary states of the power project are Uttarakhand and its nearby States. The power project is completed in 2010 and it started its operations in the same year itself. There are four turbines and each turbine has a capacity of 100 MW each. The type of turbine used in the power house is Francis vertical axis. The making of both Turbine and Generator of the plant is done by the BHEL India. The Unit Size is 400 MW having four units of 100 MW. There are four units in power station and all are commissioned.
