Lakwa Thermal Power Plant

Lakwa Thermal Power Station APGCL, is located in the place Lakwa, which is situated in Sivasagar District, Assam, India.

The overall capacity of Lakwa Gas Power Station is 157.2 MWe. The plant is mainly used as base load and is a fully operating type power plant. This is a combined cycle gas turbine type power plant and natural gas is used as the primary fuel in this plant. The secondary fuel used here is light fuel oil/diesel. The Gas Supply (MMSCMD) required for 90% PLF is 0.84 and 0.94 is the linkage. This power plant has 8 different units and the first unit is commissioned on 27-April-1981. The rest of the units are commissioned in the years 1981, 1983, 1986, 1994, 1994, 1995 and 2012 respectively.

The first 4 units have an overall installed capacity of 15 MWe and units 5, 6 and 7 have an installed capacity of 20 MWe. The eighth unit has an overall installed capacity of 37.2 MWe. The turbine and generator manufactures are Westinghouse (units 1 to 3), MHI Japan (fourth unit), GE/BHEL Hyderabad (units 5 to7) and BHEL (unit 8). The operator of the plant is Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGCL).
