The Lanco Tanjore Power Plant is situated at Karuppur village in Thiruvidaimaruthur taluk of Tanjore district, Tamil Nadu. The total installed capacity of the plant is 119.8 MWe.

This is a fully operating and is a combined cycle gas turbine power plant. The primary fuel used in this plant is natural gas. The gas supply needed for 90% PLF is 0.58 and the linkage is 0.5. The main source of fuel is from Kuttalam gas field in Thanjavur District Tamil Nadu by GAIL ( India) Ltd. The supply of fuel is a long-term contract. The fuel required for the plant is transported through the dedicated pipeline from ONGC Station 8 km away in Kuttalam. The main source of water is from Kollidam River by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board. The capital cost of the plant in 2005 is Rs. 430 Crores.

The plant has two different units. The first unit is commissioned on 19-February-2005 with an installed capacity of 70 MWe. The second unit has an installed capacity of 49.8 MWe and is commissioned on 15-July-2005. GE is the turbine and generator manufacturer of the first unit and Gas Turbine -1 6FA is the turbine model used in this unit. Siemens is the turbine and generator manufacturer of the second unit and Steam Turbine -1 is the turbine model used here. Thermax Babcock Wilcox India is the boiler manufacturer. This is an IPP ownership power plant and LANCO Infratech Ltd, Hyderabad is the owner of the power plant. Lanco Tanjore power company limited is the operating company of the plant.
