Giral Lignite Mine India

The Giral Lignite Mine is a fully operating lignite mine, situated at Barmer, Western part of Rajasthan state, Rajasthan. The total capacity of the mine is 2000000 Tonnes/year and the name of coal mine area is Barmer. This is a Surface (open-cast pit) type mine and the type of coal is lignite. The coal evacuation mode is done by the help of truck and the useful heat value of the coal is about 2400-3360 kcal per kg. The primary mining method is done by truck and shovel, which reserves estimated at 31.55 MM Tonnes. The lignite from the mine is mainly supplied to adjacent Giral Lignite Power Plant and the main source of water for the plant is from Indira Gandhi by about 165 km of pipe line from Mohangarh. The mine was commissioned on May-1995 and the mine unit name is Giral. This is a joint venture ownership type coal mine and the owners are Rajasthan State Mines & Minerals Ltd. (RSMML), by owing 51% of share and Raj West Power Ltd. (RWPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, owing 49% of share. Barmer Lignite Mining Company Limited is the operating company of the mine. The Plant uses 1500 Tonnes/day of limestone from Sanu Village in Jaisalmer district.

Panandhro Lignite Mine is a fully operating mine situated at Varamnagar, Naliya, Kutch district, Gujarat. The total capacity of the mine is about 4000000 Tonnes/year and the type of coal is lignite. This is a Surface (open-cast pit) type mine and Panandhro is the coal mine area. The coal from the mine is supplied to GEB Kutch Lignite PP at Panandhro and GMDC Power Station. The mine was commissioned on 1974 and the mine unit name is Panadhro. This is a state government ownership type coal mine and Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited (GMDC) is the operating company and owner of the mine by owing the 100% share.
