Mahatma Gandhi Thermal Power Plant Jhajjar

The Mahatma Gandhi Coal Power Plant is situated at Khanpur Village, Jhajjar, Haryana, India. The total installed capacity of Mahatma Gandhi Coal Power Plant is 1320 MWe.

This is a fully operating power plant and the power from the plant is mainly used for base load in Jhajjar district. This is a Super-critical Thermal type power plant and coal is used as the primary fuel. The main source of coal for the power plant is 5.21 mtpa received from CCL. The water for the plant is taken from Jawahar Lal Nehru Canal (50 cusecs) and the electric power grid from the plant is connected to the regional grid. Wet lime flue gas desulfurization unit is the SOx control device used here and the NOx Control Device used is Low NOx burner. The particulates control device used is electrostatic precipitator and additional baggage filters are also used here. The plant has two different units and both the two units has an installed capacity of 660 MWe each. The first unit is commissioned on 22-January-2012 and the second unit is commissioned on 11-April-2012. Harbin Boilers China are the boiler manufacturer for the plant and Supercritical type boilers are used in these units. Here steam turbine is used and Dongfang China is the turbine manufacturer. The generator manufacturer is also Dongfang China. CLP Power India (subsidary of CLP China) is the owner of the plant and CLP Power India Pvt. Ltd. is the operating company of the plant.
