Mini Hydroelectric Plant
The Mini Hydel Plant is located in the return canal of Hasdeo thermal power plant in the Korba West. The Mini Hydel Plants are planned to exploit the existing release head of freezing water in the return canal for electricity production which was unexploited earlier in thermal power stations using open circuit cooling system.
The Mini Hydel Electric Plant is commissioned in 12 January 2003. It has an approved capacity of 1.7 Megawatt and the installed capacity is also 1.7 Megawatt. The status of the power plant is Running. The source of water for the generation of power is from the return canal of Hasdeo Thermal Power plant. The owner of the power plant is Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company. The Beneficiary States of the power plant are Chhattisgarh and its nearby states. The cost of the project is around 4.52 Crores.
The turbine manufacturer of first unit is Larsen & Toubro and the Generator Manufacturer for first unit is Kirloskar. In the case of second unit, Turbine Manufacturer and Generator Manufacturer are Crompton Greaves. The power produced is evacuated through 6.6 KV Reserve Bus for Hasdeo Thermal Plant in Korba West.
The Unit Sizes of the power plant is about 1.7 Megawatt (2 units x 0.85 Megawatt). There are 2 units in Operational. They are first and second units. The first unit is commissioned in 12 January 2003 with an installed capacity of 0.85 Megawatt and the second unit is also commissioned in 29 May 2007 with an installed capacity of 0.85 Megawatt.
How to Reach: The Mini Hydel Electric Plant is located in the return canal of Hasdeo power plant in the Korba West. You will get taxis or busses from Korba city to the power station. Regular Bus services are available from Korba to the power station. So it is better to reach Korba, before going to the power station. Korba Railway Station is the nearest well-connected Railway Station and Raipur Airport is the nearest well-connected domestic Airport.
