Nagarjunasagar Hydroelectric Project

Nagarjunasagar Hydroelectric Project is located in the Nalgonda District of Telangana, India. This hydroelectric power project is commissioned in 1960. Now the approved and total installed capacity of power plant is 815.6 MW. Since the capacity is more than 25 MW, it is categorized as a Major project. The major source of water for the project is from Krishna River. The basin of plant is Krishna Basin and the east flowing rivers are the hydroelectric basin of the plant. The plant is located in the Southern hydroelectric region of the country. This hydroelectric power plant is owned by Telangana State Government and is operated by Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited (TSGENCO). The major beneficiary states of Nagarjunasagar Hydroelectric Project are Andra Pradesh and Telangana. The type of power house in the plant is Surface.
