Namrup Thermal Power Plant

Namrup Thermal Power Plant is located 12 km from Namrup, which is situated in Dibrugarh District, Assam, India.

The overall capacity of Namrup Gas Thermal Power Station is 133.5 MWe. The plant is mainly used as base load and is a fully operating type power plant. This is a combined and open cycle gas turbine type power plant. GT-4 is Open Cycle type plant. Natural gas is used as the primary fuel and Light fuel oil/diesel is the secondary fuel used here. The Gas Supply (MMSCMD) required for 90% PLF is 0.57 and 0.66 is the linkage.

This power plant has 6 different units and the first, second and third units are commissioned on 01-April-1965. The first 3 units has an overall installed capacity of 23 MWe. Units 4, 5 and 6 have an overall installed capacity of 12.5, 30 and 22 MWe respectively. The turbine and generator manufactures are Westinghouse USA (units 1 to 4) and BHEL (units 5 and 6). The power plant has the ownership of Assam Power Generation Corporation Ltd (APGCL). Assam SEB is the operating company. The Gas Turbine Units 1-4 are de-rated to 20, 21, 21, 11 MWe respectively. The Steam Turbine Units 5-6 are de-rated to 24 and 22.5 MWe. So the total de-rated capacity is 119.5 MW.
