The New Cossipore Thermal Power Station is situated at Kolkata in West Bengal, India. The total installed capacity of New Cossipore Thermal Power Plant is 160 MW.

This is a sub critical thermal power plant. Here Coal (Indigenous) is used as the primary fuel and Fuel Oil is used as the secondary fuel. The main source of coal is from a nearest minning place. The electric power grid from the power plant is connected to the regional grid. The plant has four installed units. The first and second units have an installed capacity of 30 MW each. The third and fourth unit has an installed capacity of 50 MW each. The commissioned dates of these four units are:

Unit 1 – 31 October 1949 – 30 MW

Unit 2 – 30 November 1949– 30 MW

Unit 3 – 31 October 1950 – 50 MW

Unit 4 – 30 April 1963 – 50 MW

Babcock and Wilcox of UK is the boiler manufacturer for the plant. Here steam turbine is used for the plant. The turbine and generator manufacturer of the plant is Parsons of UK. The Boiler Model/Type of the plant is Sub-Critical and the owner of the plant is State Government. The Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) is the operating company of the plant.
