Nimoo Bazgo Hydroelectric Project

Nimoo Bazgo Hydroelectric Project is commissioned in the year 2013 with a total installed capacity of 45 MW. The type of project is Major, since it is greater than 25 Megawatt. The status of power plant is completed and are Functional. The source of water is Indus River and the basin is also Indus. The power plant is positioned in the North HE Region. The power plant is owned and managed by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (NHPC Ltd).

Jammu and Kashmir is the only beneficiary state of the power plant. The type of Dam constructed is Concrete Gravity Dam. And the type of Power House constructed is Surface Power House. The Hydroelectric Development Type of power plant is Run of the River. The completion of the power project was in 2014 and soon the commercial operation of the power plant started. The total number of Turbines in the plant is three and capacity per each turbine is 15 MW. So the total installed capacity is 45 MW. The type of turbine used is Francis. The manufacture of both Turbine and Generator of the power plant is Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited.

The unit sizes of the power plant is 45 MW (15 MW x 3 units). There are 3 units in operation and all the three units are commissioned. The first, second and third units are commissioned in the month of June 2013, January 2013 and October 2012 respectively with an installed capacity of 15 MW for each units.

How to Reach: The power plant is located in the Alchi town of Leh district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. You can arrive this place via Road, Rail or Air. Leh is the well-connected town from the power station, which is located at about 66 km via NH1. You will get Jammu Kashmir Transport Buses or Taxi Services from Leh to Alchi. The nearby railway station to Leh is the Jammu Tawi railway station, which is located at a distance of 712 km from Power Station. Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport of Leh is the nearest airport, which is just 64 km away from power station.
