Nizam Sagar Hydro Electric Project

Nizam Sagar Hydro Electric Project is erected in the Nizam Sagar dam of Hyderabad in Telangana. The power plant is commissioned in 1954 with a total installed capacity of 10 MWe. The type of project is small as its capacity is in between 3 and 25 MW. The Status of Hydroelectric Project is completed and is now Operational. The Hydroelectric Development Type of the plant is Canal Drop. The source of water for the generation of power is from Godavari River. The basin of plant is Godavari river and it is located in the Southern Hydroelectric Region of the country.

The power plant is owned by State Government and it is operated by the Telangana State Power Generation Corporation. The only beneficiary state of the plant is Telangana. The type of turbine used in the power house is Kaplan and the total number of turbines used in the plant is two. The manufacturer of turbine and generator for the power house is by the English Electric company of UK. Here the number of penstocks in the power house is four and its length is 110. The turbine capacity of plant is 5 Megawatt for each turbine. The unit size of the plant is 10 MWe having two units of 5 MW each. The total units operated in the plant are two and all of them are commissioned.
