Papanasam Hydroelectric Power Station
Papanasam Hydroelectric Power Station is erected in the Thambraparani River in Papanasam of Tirunelveli District in Tamil Nadu. The power project is commissioned during the years from 1944 to 1951 with a total installed capacity of 28 MW. The basin of the power plant is East flowing rivers flowing between Pennar and Kanyakumari. The Hydroelectric Basin of the plant is East Flowing Rivers. The Power Station utilizes the water discharged from Karaiyar Dam. The Status of the plant is completed and is Operational. The Main Reservoir of the plant is Papanasam Reservoir. The power station is erected in the southern hydroelectric region of the country. The structure type of the power station is like that of a Dam.
