Parbati III hydroelectric project
Parbati III hydroelectric project is erected in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh.Parbati III hydroelectric project was commissioned in 2014. It has an installed capacity of 520 Megawatt. The type of project is Major, since greater than 25 Megawatt. The type of plant is Damwith run-of-river power generation and the type of Dam is Embankment with Rockfill. The Status of Power plant is completed and are Operational. The source of water for the generation of power is Sainj River and the basin is Indus River up to Indian border. The plant is located in the North Hydroelectric Region. The owner and operator of the power station is National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), which is an undertaking of Central Government.
The beneficiary states of this hydroelectric power project are North Indian States. The power project was completed in 2014 and soon the commercial operation of power plant is started. The Type of Turbine used in the power station is Francis. The manufacturer of Turbine and Generator of the power plant is Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. The Unit Sizes of the power plant is 520 MW (130 MW x 4 Units). There are four units In Operation and all the four units are commissioned in regular intervals. The first to fourth units are commissioned in 18 February 2014, 27 February 2014, 15 March 2014 and 22 May 2014 respectively with an installed capacity of 130 Megawatt for each units.
How to Reach: Parbati III hydroelectric project is located in the Sainj village ofKullu district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh in India. You can arrive this hydroelectric power station via Road, Rail or Air. Sainj is located at about 45 kilometres from Kullu town. The Transport bus services and Taxi services are available from the Kullu town to the power station. There is no railway station near to Power Station in less than 10 km.Jogindernagar is the nearest railway station located near Sainj which is at a distance of around 107 km. Bhuntar Airport is the nearest airport, which is located at about 199 km from Power Station.
