Parli Thermal Power Station
Parli Thermal Power Station is a 1,170-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station owned by MSPGCL, a state government held company in India. Parli Thermal Power Station is commissioned in 1971. It has an approved capacity of 1170 Megawatt. The installed capacity is also 1170 Megawatt. The status of this thermal power plant is Operational. The primary fuel used for the production of power is coal. The type of this thermal plant is Subcritical. The plant is owned and operated by the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited. The beneficiary states of this thermal power plant are Maharashtra and its neighbouring states. The Unit Size of this thermal power plant is 1170 Megawatt (210 Megawatt x 2 units + 250 Megawatt x 3 units).
There are three Stages. In Stage 1, two units are commissioned – Unit 1 and Unit 2. The first unit is commissioned in 1971 with an installed capacity of 30 Megawatt. The second unit is also commissioned in 1972 with an installed capacity of 30 Megawatt. Both of first and second units are retired in 2010. The Second stage has three units commissioned – Unit 3, Unit 4 and Unit 5. The third unit is commissioned in 1979 April with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. Also the third unit was retired in 2016. The fourth unit is commissioned in 1980 July with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. Similarly the fifth unit is commissioned in 1981 January with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. Both of fourth and fifth units are Operational. In Stage 3, there are three units commissioned. They are from Unit 6 to Unit 8. The sixth unit is commissioned in 2007 with an installed capacity of 250 Megawatt. After that the seventh unit is commissioned in 2010 with an installed capacity of 250 Megawatt. The eighth unit is commissioned in 2016 with an installed capacity of 250 Megawatt. All the three units of Stage 3 including sixth, seventh and eighth units are commissioned.
