Pillaiperumalnallur Gas Power Plant India

The Pillaiperumalnallur Power Plant is situated at Pillaiperumalnallur, Nagapattinam District, Tamil Nadu. the total installed capacity of the power plant is 330.5 MWe.

The plant is used as base load in Tamil Nadu. This is a fully operational and a combined cycle gas turbine power plant. Here natural gas and naphtha are used as the primary and secondary fuels. The gas supply needed for 90% PLF is 1.59 and the linkage is 0.37. The main source of fuel for the plant is from PY-1 offshore field in the Cauvery basin. The water needed for the plant is mainly taken from the ocean. The capital cost of the plant in 2001 is Rs.1121.739 Crores.

The plant has two different units. The first unit is commissioned on 22-February-2001 with an installed capacity of 210.5 MWe. The second unit has an installed capacity of 120 MWe and is commissioned on 22-February-2001. Gas Turbine-1 is used as the turbine in the first unit and Steam Turbine -1 is used in the second unit. This is an IPP ownership power plant and PPN Power Generating Company Pvt Ltd. is the operating company of the plant. The owners of the plant are Apollo Infrastructure Projects Finance Co Pvt Ltd (owing 65% share), Marubeni (having 26% share) and HDFC and HDFC Standard Life (having 9% share).
