Pochampad Hydroelectric Project

Pochampad Hydroelectric Project also called as Sriram Sagar Project is erected in the Pochampad Dam of Nizamabad district in Telangana. The power plant is commissioned in 1988 with a total installed capacity of 27 MW. The type of project is major, as its total installed capacity of plant is greater than 25 MW. The status of project is completed and is now operational. The position of power house in the station is Dam Toe. The completion of project was in 1988. The water source and basin of power plant is Godavari River. The power project is erected in the Southern Hydroelectric Region of the country. The East Flowing Rivers of the country are the main Hydroelectric Basin.

The Hydroelectric Project is owned by the State Government and the operating company of the plant is Telangana State Power Generation Corporation (TSGENCO). The type of turbine used in the power house is Kaplan. Here the total number of Turbines used in the power house is three. The manufacturer of Turbine and Generator for the plant is by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) of India. The maximum rated speed of turbine is around 250 rpm. There are three penstocks in the turbine and the internal diameter of each penstock is 4.2 m. The capacity of each turbine is 9 MW and there are 3 units in operation. So the total capacity of power house is 27 MWe. All of them are commissioned.
