Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant Bhatinda:
Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Power Plant is located in the Bhatinda district of Punjab. The total installed capacity of the thermal power plant is 460 Megawatt. The construction of the plant was started in 1970 and it completed in 1982. The power plant was first commissioned in 1974 September. The power plant is shut down on 24 September 2017 after the generation of power in 43 years. It is due to serious health troubles from fly ash of the power plant in the nearby towns and cities.
Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant Ropar
Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Power Plant is located in the Ghanauli village of Ropar district of Punjab. The total installed capacity of super thermal plant is 840 Megawatt excluding first stage, which is closed now. The first unit is commissioned in September, 1984 and finally the sixth and last unit is commissioned in March 1993. The first and second unit is closed now and the remaining units from third to sixth units are now operational. The source of water is from Nangal Hydel Channel.
Guru Hargobind Thermal Power Plant Lehra Mohabbat (Bhatinda)
Guru Hargobind Thermal Power Plant is erected in the Lehra Mohabbat town in the Bhatinda district of Punjab. The installed capacity of the thermal power plant is 920 Megawatt. The first unit of the thermal power plant is commissioned in June 1999 with a generating capacity of 210 Megawatt. All the four units are Operational. The water is utilized from Bathinda branch of Sirhind Canal.
Hydel Power Projects:
UBDC Hydro Electric Power House Stage I & II
UBDC Hydro Electric Power House is located near to Pathankot in Punjab. The total capacity of the power plant is 45 Megawatt for Stage 1 and 46.35 Megawatt for Stage 2. The First Stage is commissioned during the years of 1971 – 1973 and the Second Stage is commissioned during the years of 1989 – 1992. All the units of UBDC power plant are functional. The manufacturer of Turbine and Generator of UBDC Stage I are AEI (UK) & BHEL India, whereas the manufacturer of UBDC Stage II are BHEL.
Mukerian Hydel Project Stage - I
Mukerian Hydel Project Stage - I, is erected at the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. The power plant consists of four number of power houses. The first and second power house has 6 units (3 unit each). Whereas the third and fourth power house also has 6 units (3 unit each). The entire power capacity in the 12 units of all the four power houses is 207 Megawatt.
Anandpur Sahib Hydel Project is erected at the 32 kilometers, downstream of Bhakhra Dam towards the Ropar district. The power plant consists of two number of power houses. The first power house is located at Ganguwal and the second power house is located at Nakkian. The installed capacity of both Power Houses are 67 Megawatt each.
Ranjit Sagar Dam is erected at river Ravi, near the village Thein in the border of Jammu Kashmir and Pathankot district of Punjab. The power plant consists of four generating units of 150 Megawatt each. So the total Installed capacity of Power Plant is 600 Megawatt.
Shahan Power House is located at the Himalayan ranges of Himachal Pradesh. Shahan power plant has an installed capacity of 65 Megawatt.
Micro Hydel Projects:
Nidampur power plant has 2 units. The capacity of each unit is 400 Megawatt and the total installed capacity is 800 Megawatt. The year of commissioning is in the year, 1985-86.
Daudhar power plant has 3 units in operation. It has a capacity of 500 Megawatt for each units. So the total installed capacity is 1500 Megawatt. The year of commissioning is in the year, 1987.
Rohti power plant has 2 units in operation. It has a capacity of 400 Megawatt for each units. So the total installed capacity is 800 MW. The year of commissioning is in the year, 1989.
Thuhi power plant has 2 units. It has a capacity of 400 Megawatt each. And the total installed capacity is 800 Megawatt. The power plant was commissioned in 1989.
