Rengali Hydroelectric Project

Rengali Hydroelectric Project is erected in the Rengali Dam in the Rengali Village of Angul District in Orissa. The hydroelectric power project is commissioned in 1985 with an approved and installed capacity of 250 MW. The type of project is Major and its status is completed and are operational. The water source for the generation of power in the Rengali power plant is Brahmani River. The river Basin of plant is Brahmani and Baitarni rivers. The main reservoir in which the project is erected is Rengali. The whole project was established in the Rengali Dam and the type of Dam is Gravity and Masonry.

The power project is owned by Odisha Government and the operating company of the plant is Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC). Odisha is the beneficiary state of the project and the neighbouring states which are also beneficiary from this project are Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. The power project was completed in 1985. The total number of turbines in the plant is five. The capacity per Turbine is 50 MW, so the total capacity of turbine is 250 MW. The manufacturer of Turbine of plant is by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited and the Generator is also manufactured by theBHEL Company. There are five units in operation and all the five units are commissioned. The first to fifth units are commissioned in the years 1985, 1986, 1989, 1990 and 1992 respectively.
