Sanjay Vidyut Pariyojna Hydroelectric Project

The Sanjay Vidyut Pariyojna Hydroelectric Project is located in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is erected on the river Bhaba, which is an entire underground project with a total installed capacity of 120 Megawatt, containing 3 units each of 40 Megawatt. The exceptionality of this project lies in its underground switchyard. The power project is completed and became operational in the year, 1989- 1990, the evaluated cost was almost INR 167 crores. The whole length of tunnels comprising those secured in after finishing the project is 12 km.

Sanjay Vidyut Pariyojna (Bhabha) Hydroelectric Project is commissioned in 2000. The Approved Capacity of the power plant is 120 MW. The project type is Major, since it is greater than 25 MW. The status of the power plant is completed and are Operational. The source of water is Bhaba River and the river basin is Indus River. The power plant is located in the North Hydroelectric Region of India. The hydroelectric power plant is owned and operated by the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board. The regular buses are available from the Kinnaur to the power station. Since there is no railway station in the Kinnaur town, the nearest railway station to Kinnaur is Kalka railway station, which is situated at about 356 km from Kinnaur town. The nearest airport is Dehradun, which is 154 kilometres away from Kinnaur.
