Sasan Thermal Power Plant is world's leading integrated power production and coal mining plant, and also Reliance Power's top project. The project involves six units of 660 Megawatt each. Sasan Mega Power Plant is commissioned in 2013 March. It has an approved capacity of 3960 Megawatt. The installed capacity of this thermal power plant is also 3960 Megawatt. The status of this thermal power plant is Operational. The source of coal for the production of thermal power plant is from three coal mines, namely Moher coal mine, Moher Amlori extension and Chhatrasal. The Primary Fuel used for the generation of power is Coal. The Type of this thermal power plant is Super Critical Technology. The thermal power plant is owned and sponsored by the Tata Power. The beneficiary states of this thermal power plant are Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttarakand. The leading procurer of this thermal power plant is Madhya Pradesh with 37.5 percent share. The rest of the power is procured by the other beneficiary states of this thermal power plant.

The unit size of this thermal power plant is 6 units x 660 Megawatt. There are six units in operation. They are from Unit 1 to Unit 6. The first unit is commissioned in March 2013 with an installed capacity of 660 Megawatt. After that the second unit is commissioned in January 2014 with an installed capacity of 660 Megawatt. The third unit is commissioned in April 2014 with an installed capacity of 660 Megawatt. The fourth unit is commissioned in May 2014 with an installed capacity of 660 Megawatt. The fifth unit is commissioned in August 2014 with an installed capacity of 660 Megawatt. The sixth unit is commissioned in March 2015 with an installed capacity of 660 Megawatt. The seventh, eighth and ninth unit is proposed but cancelled. The international financial support for the Sasan Mega Power Plant is provided by Bank of China, Export-Import Bank of the United States and others.
